Highest Paying Part-Time Jobs For International Students In USA!!

Hello everyone. I will be sharing all the high-paid jobs you can do as an international student in the US, Canada, etc. This is valid for undergraduate students, master’s students, or Ph.D. students. I’ll share my journey step by step. Where did I start doing jobs? What jobs are highly available at the university? So that you can decide where you can get a job easily, and hard work. You’ll just apply and get it. And where you’ll have to do more smart work and hard work. So that you can make the maximum amount of money as an international student to be financially independent in your college. Let’s start.

So starting with my story, personally, I never felt that work is small or big. Since childhood, I had the habit of doing some of my work on my own. Because my grandmother fostered me. I never felt like I should push my grandmother to make me breakfast every day in the morning. So sometimes I used to make breakfast on my own when my bus used to come at 6 AM. So since childhood, I had the habit of doing my own work. That’s why when I came here, it wasn’t as difficult for me as it might have been for others.

In the first semester, I thought wherever I’ll get a job, I’ll take it. So highly available jobs on any college campus are in the dining hall. So sometimes in the dining hall, you’ll get a higher salary as compared to white-collar jobs like computer science tutor, math tutor. You earn more for cleaning tables and the kitchen in the dining hall, which is ironic. The reason is that dining hall working hours are very weird. For example, they might ask you to work from 3 AM to 6 AM. My hours were somewhat similar. I did it for one week and I thought that it is very hectic. If I can’t sleep, then how will I be able to study? I just gave up that same week luckily… if I hadn’t got it, I wouldn’t have quit. I got a replacement job as a math tutor & computer science tutor.

Let me share how I got it and how available this job is. In every university, if you’re doing undergrad and you have completed the 1st year’s course. When you enter your second year, if you have gotten A, A+, or B in your first year’s classes, you’re eligible to teach those classes to those students. Helping in homework, helping in labs, these kinds of roles. I got this in the first semester because I had taken AP credits for Calculus 1 & 2. Because our education and the syllabus of JEE Maths is so intense that the college’s class, which is called Advance Placement through an AP Exam.

I gave it before the college started, and so I was eligible to teach students starting from my first semester. Because I had AP credits, I had taken on-paper college classes before entering college. That actually made a huge difference in my profile. So I got this job and the salary was the same. Around $8-10/hour. It’s still the same. It’s shocking because despite the high inflation in the US, the salaries are still the same. What was 4-5 years ago or 5-6 years ago.

Now if you want to be a computer science tutor or a math tutor, you have to take the first-year classes and you can be a tutor. It’s availability is a bit low because the department looks for candidates one semester prior. So if you’re applying for this semester only, then the chances are a little bit low that you’ll get it.

Now let’s move on to the next option which is also very highly available, just like the dining hall jobs. And these jobs include working in a library. Doing check-ins, check-out for books and working as a cashier at a desk. You can give people stuff to rent in dining, hall, library, restaurant or a gym. In the gym, it can be badminton rackets or in the library, you can give chalk, duster, or as a cashier, you’re handling credit card & cash payments for a restaurant, etc. These types of jobs demand an active involvement from the students. It can be a bit hectic just like Dining Hall and The availability of these jobs is at a decent level. If you do these jobs then it is well and good and they have a high availability so you can definitely do them.

But the con of these jobs is that you can’t do your homework simultaneously. If you’re working as a lifeguard in the gym, then you always have to keep an eye on the kids who are swimming in the pool and to see if someone is drowning and you should know swimming. If you’re working as a cashier, then there is a high rush. So it’s kind of a hectic job but you get good salaries.

And before talking about the other high-paying jobs, I want to share that when I first came to the US, I only had one debit card which I used and then I realized that on every transaction, I was charged a 3% foreign transaction fee. I was so shocked. First, the currency rate is very steep. If the dollar is at 78 Rupees, then you can be charged up to 80 rupees by any Indian bank if you’re using it in the US. You cannot deny because when you insert the card, you get the option. Sometimes there are no options and they can randomly charge you any currency amount that is for that day plus a surcharge.

But now there is a solution to that. The one and only Niyo global debit card powered by State Bank of Mauritius India which is one of the best travel cards to have. Imagine you’re coming from India and you have to stop at London, Europe, Dubai, Doha, there also you have to do transactions. You can transactions at the airport without any foreign transaction fee. Thanks to this Niyo global card. This card is Powered by a bank account in the State Bank of Mauritius. It’s very powerful if you go to any country in the world. 150+ countries. You can charge it. Even can put money into this bank account with zero foreign transaction fee.

You can check everyday USD to INR, the result you’ll on the Google search for USD to INR will be the same as on their website and you’ll have to give only that fee. And with the same conversion fee, you can put an Indian Rupee in this card and you will be able to use it anyway. And other key features of this debit card include that you can manage it through the app on your phone. You can lock or unlock it if the card gets lost. It is manageable. You also get exclusive deals.

For example, you can get lounge access at a domestic airport plus travel cashback and you also get an ATM locator which can help you to locate an ATM near you all the time. So this makes the whole travel process seamless without any conversion fee. So definitely check it out and go global with Niyo Global and the link will be in the description below.

Now let’s talk about my favorite job and one of the highest-paid jobs. You can do as an international student during undergrad. So this is none other than resident assistant which means that you’ll be living in a hostel on campus. In many schools like Georgia Tech, you have to live on campus in the first year. So when you’ll live on campus in your second year, then you’ll be eligible for a resident assistant if you have passed a test. Basically, your communication skills and then you become a resident assistant, you’ll get an apartment and a private room free of cost and on top of that, you’ll get a stipend of 200 to 300 Dollars per month.

So you have covered your housing rent and food expenses. And on top of that, the responsibilities you’ll have are:

The number 1 responsibility will be to keep the bulletin board ready for every week. Every apartment floor has one resident assistant, which will be you, and you’ll make a bulletin board for that floor about what will be the updates today, the news and the events that’ll be happening in the university. And number 2 is that if someone forgets their keys, then it’ll be your responsibility. You will be getting a call from the student, “Please let me in my dorm or let me in the building.” So you have to pick them up from downstairs and drop them at their apartment. You just have to do it, irrespective of whether the student is drunk or not. And you have to check in every month if in every apartment if someone is under 21, if they have alcoholic drinks in their apartments.

These are the responsibilities that you can do with other resident assistants as well. So it is not that bad. The biggest advantage is that the stipend covers your rent and food, allowing you to take on another job. The amount you’re getting is through stipend so for the rest of the 10 hours, you can do other on-campus jobs like a computer science tutor or a math tutor. Whatever you like, you can do it for 10 hours more.

You can earn $500–$600 per month and have your housing covered. Thus you can earn a very good amount.

Now an even bigger step than this is being research or a teaching assistant. These are my personal favorite jobs. And if someone wants to go to the USA with scholarship then they have 100% scholarships at Caltech for International Students
